He Ahi Eco-Business Park
Landscape Architecture + Urban Design
Taupō
We have had the privilege to be involved in helping shape the future of sustainable industry in Aotearoa through our work on He Ahi Eco-Industrial Park, Taupō.
Working on behalf of Te Pae o Waimihia, He Ahi is a visionary 45ha development that blends commercial opportunity with cultural identity, environmental leadership, and long-term intergenerational outcomes. The project has been designed to challenge the status quo of traditional industrial parks by embedding tikanga Māori values, ecological restoration, renewable energy, innovation, and high-quality placemaking at its core.
Our involvement has included masterplanning, landscape architecture, urban design thinking, cultural integration, and more recently detailed Stage 1 landscape documentation for delivery.
The vision for He Ahi includes new wetlands, mātauranga walkways, stormwater treatment landscapes, geothermal opportunities, native planting, active movement networks, and a design language that reflects the whenua and stories of Ngāti Tūwharetoa. It is a project where commerce, culture and sustainability work together.
Exciting to see this bold and meaningful development continue to progress.
